Midlife crises can come to even the most stable of us. Sometimes they’re big and flamboyant. Sometimes they’re just a quiet reconsideration of what’s important to you. They may be very noticeable because of new hair styles or ‘having some work done’. Or, they can take place mostly on the inside.
Our member, Grace Newman, shares with us some fundamental things she is quietly changing about herself in response to an unexpected, and still unfolding, midlife crisis.
Although I'm doing my best to age gracefully and appreciate the trade off of wisdom for youth, but I still chafe against the march of time. The midlife changes in my body are annoying to observe when I feel like a 30 year old inside. And, there is so much I have left to do!
In this thoughtful and upbeat article, Erin Coates, while only in her late 30s, provides an excellent reminder to all of us who are struggling with it. She has the right perspective going and I feel better already!
One way to find more meaning in our midlife can be rediscovering the excitement of an old passion. Not a person, but an interest or activity.
Our member, Barbara Loyd, did just that when she took up dance at her local YMCA. Judging from this charming poem, I think some people are just born to dance!
