I love this poem by one of our WomenBloomers, Olive Sullivan. I can totally relate to her words about once defining myself through who and what I wasn’t. And, don't all of us identify with different music at different times of our lives? But, true to the experience Olive describes, somewhere in midlife I finally have a better handle on who and what I am. Much more comfortable, not to mention positive, don’t you think?
Not finished, like you I’m still becoming, but I’m well into “I am” territory.
WomenBloom held a midlife reinvention discussion group here in Austin on May 12. We had a large group of engaged, fascinating women that evening talking about everything from their own reinvention aspirations to how to find the courage to take the first small steps towards a future that fits the woman they are becoming.
One of our Bloomers in attendance, Suzann Madeley, was inspired to write this thoughtful piece on some of her thoughts following the meeting.
Any of you with teenagers have to be familiar by now with Facebook, Twitter, instant messaging and texting. Maybe you even USE some of those technology tools to keep up with your kids. Where do you draw the line though?
Our member, Connie Mulloy, LOVES technology and it holds no fears for her. She pragmatically uses it to ride herd on her teen son and daughter. But, even she drew the line at Twitter—until now! She tells this amusing story of finding herself in a situation where Twitter was exactly what she needed, and didn’t have!
