Ugh, bless you! I'm so sorry, I know several women who have similar stories. It stinks. Have you been able to make up for some of the lost time and money? Are you on track to do some saving?

I'm fortunate enough to have some but it has shrunk considerably in the last few months. I can only hope it will recover by the time I need it, but it is scary.

It's hard being single...living expenses are cheaper with 2 than one and saving and planning surely has to be easier with two contributing. But I guess there are trade offs.

I wish you the best of luck with this, I know it must be tough.

oh i'm 50 now, remarried and on the right track making three times the amount of money...so, yes...but it is just amazing that i spent 19 years, at home rasing his children, and he takes the retirement...should be against the law.

I am not at all prepared for it and am terribly ashamed. I don't know, all those years snuck up on me...I haven't the faintest notion of how to go about it, either. My financial situation is so unstable right now. The economy is putting a strain on our business and so taking a paycheck some weeks is tough. It's hard to have a budget when the incoming money is not set in stone.

Well, I'm so sorry to hear that but I would be willing to bet $25 of my own greatly reduced 401k that you have lots of company.

I'm going to refer this to one of our money experts to see what they would say to the many women who may be in a similar boat.

I think this whole economic thing has us all very nervous, I know it does me. It's certainly not where I thought I would be at this point in my life.

Let's see what we can learn from our money folks...stay tuned.
